“Soft laser therapy speeds up the healing process tremendously.” – interview with Dr. Judit Rajnai and Dr. Sándor Kovács

Dr. Judit Rajnai and her husband, Dr. Sándor Kovács, are esteemed dental practitioners. Dr. Rajnai operates a school dental practice, while Dr. Kovács manages a mixed dental practice. Since 1997, they have been dedicated entrepreneurs, running their own clinic in Budakeszi.

In their quest for innovative and effective complementary therapies, they attended a pivotal course on soft laser therapy in 1996. This course, led by Dr. Judit Horváth and physicist Ervin Tanos, among others, greatly influenced their professional journey.

This is where our laser career started. The way they delivered the knowledge was very impressive. I was surprised how practical it was, adapted to everyday practice. And it was all done in such a familiar, intimate atmosphere that I felt like part of the family right away. I knew immediately that we had to address this. ” – Sándor recalls.

Following the completion of the course, they acquired a Twin Peaks tabletop laser, complete with connectable components and an Optikop combined control head, allowing for independent and simultaneous operation of the red and infrared diodes. This equipment has consistently performed excellently and underwent a review earlier this year. During the review, it required some repairs and was subsequently refurbished. Additionally, they have now invested in a new, more powerful soft laser that also features combined red and infrared diodes.

Soft lasers are used for “everything”

Dr. Rajnai specializes in caring for preschool and primary school children, employing gentle laser therapy as a cornerstone of her practice. This innovative approach, which requires only a brief session, consistently proves remarkably efficacious.
For young children, laser therapy offers notable benefits in treating conditions such as aphthae and herpes. By initiating treatment at the first signs of tingling that herald the onset of herpes, we can significantly reduce its frequency of occurrence. In cases of inflamed or swollen gums, where intervention is necessary, I combine laser therapy with a triple regimen of Schüssler salts. This synergistic approach yields rapid resolution within two to three days, effectively alleviating the issue as though it had simply vanished. Furthermore, laser therapy is invaluable for managing gingivitis and responding promptly to accidents, whether involving soft tissue or dental trauma. Administered over a series of three consecutive days, it consistently garners positive outcomes, underscoring its versatility and reliability. Additionally, for very young children experiencing teething discomfort, laser therapy can be safely administered with the cooperation of the child, ensuring they wear protective glasses throughout the procedure. It’s a widely embraced method within our practice, extending its benefits not only to patients but also to their families ” – Dr. Rajnai remarks with evident satisfaction.

It is used effectively at home to treat various sprains, strains, skiing accidents, ear infections and burns.
My son says we use it for everything.” –
Dr Kovács sums up with a smile.
He also loves and uses the soft laser device in his compound practice in a very versatile way. With decades of experience under his belt, he uses it with courage and creativity:
We use it most often for root canal treatments and gum periodontal problems, with very good efficiency. But it could be used for practically anything, as long as you have the time. Even for a removable tooth replacement that has broken the mucosa. In this case it helps the wound to heal. It also speeds up wound healing after tooth extraction. Or, if there is a complication, an inflamed tooth socket, it is also an excellent treatment. It can also be used effectively for jaw joint problems.

Less medicine, faster recovery

The dentist couple likes to use the tools of integrative medicine. They only take or prescribe medication when they really must.
I did the Schüssler course, homeopathy. We also have Bemer devices, so we’re into integrative medicine. We very rarely prescribe antibiotics. We always tell you, just to be on the safe side, that if the condition improves, you don’t need to be prescribed it. We’re as anti-medication as possible. “, says Dr Rajnai.
Dr. Kovács adds that this is why they like to use laser devices:
Laser treatment is not a monotherapy, so there is always an adequate treatment in the background. However, it can be said that soft laser therapy speeds up the healing process tremendously, at least to the point of being symptom-free much faster. Not least, this is achieved with far fewer chemicals. And, importantly, we have not experienced any side effects – the laser has none. Treatment reactions are rare but not unpleasant.

No shortage of visible improvements

Dr. Rajnai and Dr. Kovács have had a lot of success over the years. Together they tell their stories enthusiastically:
An elderly lady, whose gums were quite atrophied and who suffered from chronic periodontitis, came to us every three months for laser treatment. She put the appointment in the diary and kept coming. She knew that this disease would never completely go away, but with regular maintenance she kept her teeth for a long time, even using her teeth that were a little mobile.
Dr. Rajnai is reminded of another case in point:
I had an adult patient who had damaged his incisor because his dog had knocked it. We started laser therapy, and after two or three days the tooth started to solidify. That was a spectacular case.
Laser devices are also a favourite in the family, and there have been many healing experiences.
One of those success stories was back in the day when I used the laser for my son’s chicken pox, because he was suffering poorly all day and scratching himself. The most trembling blisters were quickly started with laser and he had a more peaceful, restful night afterwards. ” – Dr. Kovács recalls.

Does a soft laser treatment really take long?

When talking to dentists, we sometimes hear that soft laser treatment is used less often or not at all because it takes a long time and there is no time for it with so many patients. We wondered what the experience of the dental couple was, as they have been using it since the late 1990s.
With children, we’re done very quickly because I only treat two or three points. With adults, on the other hand, when you have to treat all the gingival papillae from top to bottom, it takes at least ten minutes. That’s why we now bought a more powerful device, which is a mobile version of the old one. We can take it with us when we need it. .” – says Dr. Rajnai.
Dr. Kovács urges everyone to buy the most powerful device possible if you really want to use it:
It makes a difference whether an area is treated for forty seconds or seven seconds. Especially if it’s a large area. For example, if the inflammation of the tooth socket doesn’t stop at one tooth, there are a lot of points to treat, and a more powerful device can go faster.
As you go along, you realise that the more power an appliance has, the better it works. You basically have to deliver the same therapeutic dose to that one point, but the higher power one does it in a much shorter time. .”

Dr. Judit Rajnai and Dr. Sándor Kovács have used the soft laser device creatively and courageously over the past decades. They have achieved spectacular improvements in countless cases. But it is not only that this is impressive to them, but they also see how much patients love and appreciate soft laser therapy. They enthusiastically agreed to continue the versatile use of laser devices in the future.
